Simon Stålenhag is a Swedish artist who makes beguiling paintings that juxtapose the recent past with the possible(?) future. His work has a strong sense of Swedish identity and he uses Swedish cultural idenfiers in his work which make the paintings strangely closer to home, for even though I'm now Swedish the similarities are close enough.There is a nice current of faux-nostalgia in the paintings, but also a tongue in cheek humour too.
