How can any one not love Wallace & Gromit? Its not hard to understand why Nick Park and his friends have won so many Oscars. There's is the best claymation team ever! This film is just brilliant. I bought it on DVD (special edition of course) and I've seen it twice already. Its full of jokes, especially 'Yorkshire humour' and a plethora of film references, some obvious some obscure. I laughed my self silly watching it the first time. The villagers are hilarious, and I especially liked the police man telling the organist to shut up. The best scene has to be Gromit in the van watching the appearance of the Were Rabbit. Classic.
I also liked Lady Tottington's roof top Victorian style conservatory... I love Victorian green houses... especially the curving sort!

You know...I haven't actually seen any Wallace & Gromit, but I'm interested. Last week, we watched "Flushed Away" which was also done by Aardman Animations, and it was lots of fun. The slugs were brilliant!
I'm also quite fond of Angry Kid. The vibrator/toothbrush animation cracks me up every single time.
And I know what you mean about Victorian greenhouses. They're so aesthetically pleasing. They certainly knew how to construct beautiful buildings out of glass and steel. :) I'm especially fond of the Crystal Palace, and I'm sad that it burned down.
Have you seen the big one at Kew Gardens in London?
I hadn't seen it, but I just googled it and saw some photographs. It's fantastic!
Have you been there in person?
Yes. My Cousin (removed) lived next to it for a long time and I stayed at her house once so I had ample time to wander.
Its a fantastic building and it left an indelible impression on my mind. Ever since I've dreamt of drawing a graphic novel which featured just such a building, though in a post apocolyptic world of course.
I also had this idea of becoming so filthy rich that I'll design my own house with extensive domes and out-buildings in a similar vein. The condensation might be an issue though (not to mention getting that rich). When I first entered the building my glasses fogged over so fast I walked into a little old lady who was leaving.
Moif, I love the way that your mind works. If I had to put anyone in charge of designing the world, it would be you. ;)
Now I feel very special!
=)
Can you imagine whole cities built to set styles though? Imagine if, for example, to build a house in Aarhus, it had to conform to a set of aesthetic rules that included glass domed roofing. You see this sort of thing in sci fi illustration but not in real life alas...
Though ironically, older cites and towns often have a shared architectural aesthetic.
The movie is genius !! Aardman should have never have made that $140 million disaster Flushed Away in CG,not when they can make something this good for $30 million.Mind you I blame Dreamworks not Aardman for the failure of Flushed Away, they'll be better off with out them !
'Flushed Away' cost 140 million?
