Liberation Day

Most of Denmark was liberated from German rule on this day in 1945 by British forces commanded by Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery (the island of Bornholm was liberated by Soviet forces, who remained there for more than a year). To commemorate the day today, a British Lancaster Bomber (presumably B I PA474 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight as shown below) has over flown cemetaries in Denmark which contain British and Commonwealth pilots who lost their lives fighting Nazi Germany.
