I dread this holiday, with its unpredictable timing, its seemingly pointless purpose and its lack of any coherent festivity. Every year I go through it, noting how the city literally dies; empty streets, closed shops and only the odd drunkard staggering about to alleviate the monotony, and I feel no sense of holiday or celebration taking place.
I don't begrudge people's right to a few days off, but I wish there was a context beyond some obscure religious myth which so very few people in Denmark observe.

Blimey - you badly need a chocolate egg in your life, matey... :o))
LOL I should be so lucky!
As with so many Christian celebrations we've lost the meaning to the new God of commercialisation. Indeed I'll be working over the entire break because supermarkets demand fresh produce every day regardless of the holiday.
