Artist of the Month; Wynn Bullock

Wynn Bullock was an American photographer, who was born in Chicago, in 1902. His work isn't all that easy to find, save for a few popular pieces that turn up again and again on the net, but if you are lucky enough to find a good book with his images (I have a small one by Könemann), then he is a photographer who spent a great deal of time on several specific area's of visual investigation, including textures formed by abstract light patterns, silent space compositions and nudes in natural but odd settings. Sometimes he'd combine all three.

I came across him in the late 1990's when I was looking for reference material for black and white line art. I wanted to know how to reproduce textures using only black and white and Bullock's work served as a useful source of inspiration.
