Artist of the Month; Milo Manara

After Serpieri, Milo Manara is my favourite Italian graphic artist. This is mostly because of his line, which is simple but accuarate, but also because of his erotic tendencies which tend to dominate most of his work, but are always fun. He's not a giant perv like Serpieri, but he does have a slightly perverted aspect to his work. Just enough to challenge a prudish reader, but not so over the top that it becomes absurd.

Of all his albums, my personal favourite is Indian Summer which tells the story of a family of outcasts in early American history. Shunned by the puritan settlers and hemmed in by the natives, things reach boiling point as the long hot summer takes it toll. As is often the case, I can't post his best work because Blogger's regs forbid anything even remotely pornographic without I place an adult warning on my blog, and I can't be bothered doing that. Luckily not all Manara's best work is erotic.
