The noise from that engine when you are to the rear of the plane is spectacular.
I've stood on the ground in Rochester city centre as a Spitfire passed over head, some what higher than the roof tops, but pretty close to the ground nonetheless. As the plane passed over head it suddenly rose up into a steep climb, thus revving the engine up to the maximum. I could feel the power of the engine in the noise. It was shocking as the plane was already hundreds of meters from me.
That TV guy must have just had a really powerful sonic shockwave pass right through him.

And that without a modern altimeter - the one installed was accurate to twenty feet!)
