News from Denmark: Update

This afternoon's big news story in Denmark is the handing down of a verdict in the Ghazala Khan honour kiling trial. According to Unni Wikan who is a Norwegian professor from Oslo University and who has specialised in the study of honour killings, this conviction is a 'sensation'. For the first time in Northern European history, an entire family has been found guilty of murder and of the nine people charged, only one will receive a sentence under five years, (sentencing has yet to be determined)

According to TV2, there have been ten honour killings in Denmark since 1986.
